Rich Wright- Senior Pastor

I’m Rich Wright, the pastor of Lighthouse Community Church in Tillson, NY, where I wasborn and raised. I love this community. Both my wife, Melinda, and I love people, hosting gatherings, eating together as my wife loves to cook, and having fun in all this. I also love hearing people’s stories.

A little of our story: Both my wife and I went to church as children but saw it as “religion” as opposed to a real and personal relationship. We both stopped going to church prior to our adult years. Three months after were were married in 1981 my wife was invited to a Bible study by a co-worker while I was away on a business trip. When I came home she was a different person. She was now reading her Bible, she no longer wanted to hang out in bars, and she wanted to go to church every Sunday. I didn’t like the changes. She became “religious”. For the next six years of our marriage, I mocked Christians, the Bible, and God. I thought Christianity was only for those who needed a crutch. I didn’t think the Bible was readable or understandable. But in 1987, as a father of three young children, I wanted to be a better role model to my kids. So I told Melinda I would be willing to go to church as long as it was not one of those weird religious ones. At this non-threatening church, I opened my Bible and began to read it. I discovered it was more understandable than I thought. God began to speak to my heart. In His gentle and loving way, He drew me close to Himself and began showing me His truth. I wanted to put into practice what I read (become a part of God’s story). This was the beginning of a love relationship that continues to grow to this day.

Lighthouse Community Church is a church for the unchurched. One of our slogans is “No perfect people allowed”. Whatever the reason you don’t attend church, we invite you to come and hang out with a bunch of broken, imperfect people, and experience the transforming power of a perfect God. Jesus Christ says, “Are you tired? Worn out?Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you’ll recover your life.” (Matthew 11:28-30, MSG)

Come discover the difference between religion vs. having a real and personal relationship with the God of the universe through Jesus Christ. This kind of relationship will give your life purpose, fulfillment, joy, peace, and love, and ultimately eternal life in heaven! We would love to have you join us some Sunday and hear your story.
